Guardiagrele is considered one of the most beautifull village of Italy. Its also called “ THE MAIELLA DOOR” due his location at the bigginig of maiella mountains.
Guardiagrele is a very crafts city. Its famous for chisel and embroidery. The village where one of of most popular italian sculptor and goldsmith of the fifth century Nicola da Guardiagrele is borned.
This inventive skill is steel the treasure of the village, its his soul. The Guardiagrele citizens are still the best craftsmen of Abruzzo region, and the most strenuous defenders of the “trades of the past”. Guardiagrele is a homeland of the wrought iron where is organized an exhibition of Maiella artistic craftsmanship. The Maiella mountain is called the “mother mountain” of Abruzzo region. On a rocky wall, not far from the historic center of Guardiagrele, is graven this words: “La Maiella Mother who looks at you and blesses you forever”.
